Yichang,
a fast-growing industrial city in the west of Hubei, is located at the entrance
to the beautiful Xiling Gorge. The city used to be the famous ancient battlefield
that took place in Yiling as Yichang used to be called in the Three Kingdoms
Period (A.D.220 - 280 ).The leader of the Army the king of Shu State, Liu Bei,
lost the battle. It is vividly remembered in Chinese history as a victory of
a weak army over a numerically much stronger army by the use of tactical skills.
Major points of attraction: Gezhouba Coffer-dam, the construction site of Sanxiadaba
(Three Gorges Dam), Research Institute of Chinese Sturgeon and Three Visitors'
Cave. Duration of days there: 1 or 2 days.
