About
Three Gorges Dam
The Three Gorges Dam is
the largest hydro-electric project in the world at present. It has the unprecedented
functions of flood control, power generation and navigation improvements.
When completed, it is vitally important in harnessing and developing the Yangtze.
The construction site is situated in the Sandouping island of the Yangtze
River near Yichang, about 38 kilometers upstream from Gezhouba Dam. The whole
project will be completed in the year of 2007.
